6/3/95…R.E.M. with Luscious Jackson @ Rosemont Horizon, Chicago

R.E.M. @ Rosemont Horizon 6/3/95

R.E.M. @ Rosemont Horizon 6/3/95

So it was about damn time that I saw this band!  At least, that’s how I felt when I found out they would be doing a 3-night stint at Rosemont Horizon.  It had been about 7 years since I had gotten into them during my college days and I didn’t want to miss another opportunity to see them.  Especially because it was in a support of an album, Monster, that I really liked!  Luscious Jackson opened for them, who I knew a little about.  They were a decent opening act, but I was way more excited for the top guys.  And R.E.M. surely didn’t disappoint.  Check out the set list & see for yourself:

  26. It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

I love that they dipped as far back as they did.  And who could fault a show that ends with “It’s the End of the World as We Know It”??  You just can’t!!  And I very clearly remember Michael Stipe picking up his cell phone to call his mom to wish them a happy anniversary.  He had the entire audience scream it out to her.  I actually remembered it as being his mom’s birthday.  But I guess I was totally remembering it wrong.  Maybe because my mom’s birthday is on June 2nd, I remembered birthday instead of anniversary.  Anyway, I was a very contented girl after finally getting the opportunity to see a band that I had liked (still do like) for so many years.  It was a jam-packed and awesome show!  I was happy that my boyfriend took me.
