Depeche Mode?? With Nitzer Ebb?? Now that’s a show I could get excited about…and did! I had loved DM since the early 80′s with the release of “People Are People”. My Menudo years sort of overshadowed my interest in the band after that; although I did become even more of a fan later when Violator came out. That sort of kicked it all into high gear. And I had discovered Nitzer Ebb in my Medusa days. Couldn’t beat that joint for great music & great dancing. It introduced me to a lot of industrial dance music during the late 80′s and early 90′s. I went to the show with two of my closest friends, Corina & Gina. But so many of my friends also went to that show, including Corina’s older sister and my former college roommate, Tracey. Tracey, in fact, somehow had the opportunity to go backstage and was going to take me with her after the show. We did meet up and talk about it, but things didn’t work out. I didn’t find her after the show, but she did end up getting backstage anyway. Lucky her! She got to see Martin Gore. The Nitzer Ebb show was dance-a-tastic!! We danced our asses off. And D-Mode definitely didn’t disappoint. Just take a look at this brilliant set list:
- Kaleid
- World in My Eyes
- Halo
- Shake the Disease
- Everything Counts
- Master and Servant
- Never Let Me Down Again
- Waiting for the Night
- I Want You Now
- World Full of Nothing

- Enjoy the Silence
- Strangelove
- Personal Jesus
- Encore:
- Black Celebration

This was my first time seeing the band, but it certainly wouldn’t be my last. They put on such a fun & energetic show. They had me hooked. They are one of the greatest bands I’ve ever seen live. I still think this to this day.
