What a surprise. Another Skid Row concert. lol This would actually be my last Skid Row show…ever. And what a shame that I don’t have a strong recollection of it. First of all, I don’t remember the opening line-up. In fact, I have a feeling that my best friend & I made absolutely no attempt to see any of these bands. Because I know for damn sure that I never had any interest in these bands. All I cared about was Skid Row. I do remember listening to some local radio station in my car (as we sat in the parking lot, drinking, before we went inside the venue) that was playing all uncut versions of Skid Row’s songs; profanity and all. That was pretty cool. The drinking is probably why my recollection of this show isn’t so good, come to think of it. Looking at the ticket stub, I can see we had seats, which is kind of a surprise. But Alpine’s lawn is so huge, so I could actually see why we would have preferred seats in this venue. I know the concert was in May but I remembered this day being unusually cold. When I looked up the weather for this particular day, the high was 76 with a low of 43! Yup. And I definitely remember it getting that cold later in the evening. Yikes! But that did not spoil our show in the least. I also remember talking to some Wisconsin natives. We went back and forth name-calling (all in good fun, of course). There were names like cheesehead & FIB being thrown out there. Wait, FIB? What’s a FIB? Well, I learned that day. Fuckin’ Illinois Bastard, huh? Well, I’ll show you a FIB!! This guy told me that we drive like idiots in Chicago. WHAT?? Back to Skid Row. I’m glad I got to see them one last time. This tour promoted their latest album, Slave To The Grind, which I still love to this day! I’m sure they ROCKED!!
