Not only was this an entertaining show, it turned out to be an equally entertaining night.  The tone for this show was set when my good friend handed me my birthday present back in June.  The first thing I opened was a box with a toy plane inside of it.

I was a little confused about why he was giving me a toy plane.  But once I opened my card and saw the tickets for the Jet concert, it clicked.  I got it. lol  He told me I could take anyone I wanted to the show, so of course I chose to take him.  He wasn’t really a fan of the band, but I knew we would have fun.  It turned out that the opening band was Sloan, a Canadian band.  My friend is part Canadian, so it was a band he knew of, which was a nice coincidence.  I had one of their albums at the time, but I don’t think they played any songs from that particular album.  Oh well, it was still enjoyable.  We moved up closer to the stage before Jet went on.  There was a super drunk girl and her male friend standing behind us.  This girl would NOT leave me alone.  She kept playing with my hair and grabbing me.  At first I was laughing because I knew she was drunk.  So I thought it was kinda funny.  But when she wouldn’t stop, I started to feel annoyed and uncomfortable.  MAN!!  All I wanted to do was enjoy the show and not worry about this girl inappropriately touching me.  Finally, my friend, who is really not a confrontational guy, stepped in and handled the situation.  It was GREAT.  And finally the guy she was with got her under control.  I think they may have actually walked away from us.  Ugh!!  Now I could really enjoy the show.  And that I did!  We had so much fun dancing around.  After the show I had actually planned a date with a guy I had met online.  I know, I know.  All I knew about him was what I had seen on his profile and what he told me on the phone.  He told me he would be wearing a cowboy hat.  Ummm, I was meeting up with a cowboy in NYC??  Ay ay ay!!  Well, it all turned out to be way cooler than I had anticipated.  I parted ways with my friend after the show was over, he wished me luck, and off I went to meet my cowpoke.  I was pleasantly surprised when I met him.  We headed off to a bar and as we were walking I saw a couple of members of Jet out on the street.  I was like, “oh damn, I was just at their show.”  It turned out that their touring keyboardist was having drinks in the first bar we stopped into.  So I walked over, told him they had put on a great show, & he thanked me.  And then I walked away.  It was so weird.  The rest of the night was just as surreal and loads of fun.  All in all it was a great belated birthday celebration!
