Garbage @ Roseland Ballroom 4/24/02

Oh, Garbage!!  The last time I had seen them perform was about 6 years prior at the Q101 jamboree in Chicago.  That show was kind of a blur, so I was looking forward to a show that I would remember more clearly.  The one thing I do not remember about this show is who the opening band was.  Oh well.  I was originally supposed to go with a co-worker, but things sort of fell apart there, so I ended up bringing my ex-boyfriend.  We were still on rocky ground, but I figured he’d enjoy the show.  I didn’t want the ticket to go to waste.  I love this venue in NYC.  It totally reminded me of venues like Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.  It’s just a large open space with a standing room only crowd.  My kind of show.    This was The Beautiful Garbage World Tour which was promoting Garbage’s new album, Beautiful Garbage.  I loved it!  So I couldn’t wait to hear some of these songs, along with older cuts, played live.  I’m a huge fan of Shirley Manson.  She kicks ass on stage.  When I was still living in Chicago I actually had the opportunity to sit next to her while she & I were both getting our hair done.  I looked over and saw it was her.  I kinda jumped and was about to say something, but my stylist made me stay quiet.  BOO!!  So I literally had to sit next to her for a good hour, listening in on her conversation with her stylist (she talked a lot about her father) and I couldn’t say a peep.  It sucked!!!  Anyway,  here’s the set list from this show:

  1. Push It
  2. Temptation Waits
  3. I Think I’m Paranoid
  4. Special
  5. Cup of Coffee
  6. When I Grow Up
  7. Androgyny
  8. Til the Day I Die
  9. Not My Idea
  10. So Like a Rose
  11. Shut Your Mouth
  12. Parade
  13. Stupid Girl
  14. Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!)
  15. Vow
  16. Encore:
  17. Supervixen
  18. Girl Don’t Come
  19. Get Busy With the Fizzy
  20. Milk
  21. Only Happy When It Rains

I was literally jumping around & singing the entire time.  In fact, I must have looked like I was having so much fun that this guy next to me kept trying to sing and dance around with me.  I was like, no no no.  I’m just fine here on my own. lol  This was such a great & fun show.  It was nice to see them again in a completely different setting & a more clear-headed state of mind.  I enjoyed this show a lot!!
