The two music picks I have for you this time around happen to be from two of my favorite male artists…Beck & Jack White. I have been a big fan of Beck for many years now, so it’s so refreshing that he is still putting out great music. This is a fairly mellow album, but the songs I included from his newest, Morning Phase, all touched me in a special way. He is so musically gifted and has a unique way of getting his message across. I am definitely still a fan after hearing this beautiful album.
Jack White is almost the opposite of Beck in the way he relays his message. Usually he has a very gritty approach to both his songs and lyrics. Surprisingly though, Lazaretto shows a more lovely side of Jack’s musical persona. This is a departure from what I’m used to hearing from him and all his musical side projects. I say this in a positive light. It’s quite obvious in this album that Nashville has definitely had an impact on him musically and brought out a softer side of him. I love the addition of the female harmonies in quite a few of the songs. But don’t get me wrong, there is still the Jack White grit very present on this album. His bluesy approach to 3 out of 4 of my selections demonstrate that the Jack White of old is still very much there! I wouldn’t have it any other way. Listen, learn, & LOVE!!! 🙂
